Former Putnam County sheriff arrested on suspicion of DUI

PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. – A former Putnam County sheriff was arrested this week on suspicion of DUI, according the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office.

Jeff Hardy was arrested sometime in the late Monday night to early Tuesday morning hours in Ormond Beach, PCSO public information officer Capt. Hancel Woods confirmed to News4Jax on Friday.

The details surrounding his arrest are unclear at this point. His mugshot will not be available because law enforcement is allowed to block its release.

Hardy was the sheriff during one of the biggest cases in Putnam County: the 2009 disappearance of Haleigh Cummings.

He served as Putnam County sheriff for two terms and left office in January. Hardy was succeeded by current Sheriff Gator DeLoach.

Power ballpark break-in leads to arrest

Hanshaw, who police said is homeless, was taken to South Central Regional Jail, where he was photographed in a mugshot wearing one of the Power jerseys he allegedly stole. The jersey belonged to West Virginia’s hitting coach, Ryan Long.

“It’s a simple break-in — it just happened to be at the stadium,” said Ken Fogel, the Power’s executive vice president. “Nothing has been returned to us as of this moment.”

Hanshaw was arrested by Charleston police while wearing the No. 43 road jersey. Police said he “admitted to breaking and entering” and “taking the items.” The police report states Hanshaw “was arrested wearing a jersey that was taken from inside the locker room.”

Ballpark surveillance video showed Hanshaw wheeling around a laundry cart full of valuables inside the West Virginia clubhouse around 5:13 a.m. on July 27 ahead of the Power’s road trip to Hagerstown. Fogel said Hanshaw took personal items belonging to players like sunglasses, shoes and toiletries. Much of the items had been prepacked for the team’s road trip. He said Long will have to find a different top to wear for now.

“He can wear another jersey,” Fogel said.

Fogel said police arrived Thursday and recognized Hanshaw from the ballpark security video.

Fans suspicious after Z-Ro arrested; accused of beating ex-girlfriend, rapper Just Brittany

HOUSTON — Houston rapper Z-Ro is back on the streets Thursday morning following a domestic abuse charge filed against him by his ex-girlfriend, singer Just Brittany. The rapper posted his $50,000 bond Wednesday after going before a Harris County judge, court documents said.

The 40-year-old artist was hit with aggravated assault of a family member after the 28-year-old singer said he beat her extensively in April. The alleged abuse happened when Just Brittany went to Z-Ro’s Katy-area home to discuss canceled dinner plans, the Houston Chronicle reported.

Z-Ro sends out a tweet on Thursday, July 27.

Z-Ro allegedly brandished a pistol while slapping, punching and dragging the singer during an attack that lasted almost two hours. Investigators said Just Brittany claims the assault made her vomit, forcing her to go to the restroom, where she started to record a 20-minute long audio clip. The alleged assault continued once she left the restroom, a police report said.

The songstress didn’t file charges against Z-Ro until Monday— almost four months later.

Father of teen driver who live-streamed fatal crash speaks out: ‘She killed her own sister’

Obdulia Sanchez’s father concedes he has unanswered questions about the actions of his oldest daughter, who is accused of killing her younger sister in a crash while driving drunk, then narrating the aftermath in a horrifying Instagram live video.

But there’s one thing Nicandro Sanchez is sure of: His surviving daughter needs help.

He spoke out Monday about the death of one daughter and the murder charge of another for the first time after the live-streamed crash went viral.

“What I think is [Obdulia] knows she’s done something wrong,” Sanchez told ABC affiliate KFSN. “Because she knows, and that’s what I feel. She feels bad for herself, but she killed her own sister.”

The California Highway Patrol told Fox affiliate KTXL that the 18-year-old lost control of her 2003 Buick, drove off the edge of the road and then overcorrected. The car crashed into a barbed-wire fence and flipped over in a field, according to KFSN.

Obdulia Sanchez’s 14-year-old sister, Jacqueline, and another teen girl — who were in the back seat and not wearing seat belts — were ejected from the tumbling car.

Moments later, Obdulia Sanchez was on Instagram Live again, explaining what happened — and growing increasingly hysterical.

“Hey, everybody, if
