Hours before New Years Eve party, man arrested with weapons in Texas hotel room – KABC

A man was arrested after multiple weapons were found inside a room of a Houston hotel that is set to host its annual New Year’s Eve celebration.

An off-duty Houston Police Department officer encountered a man who was acting erratically and belligerent at the Hyatt Regency Downtown. The officer called for what’s been described as urgent backup around 1:30 a.m. when his attempts to subdue the man failed.

Officers arrived on the scene and shortly after found a number of weapons in his hotel room.

Investigators also searched his vehicle and found weapons inside.
The man was taken to jail to await questioning.

ABC sister station KTRK-TV reached out to the hotel for comment but did not immediately hear back.

The arrest comes just hours before the hotel is set to host its annual New Year’s Eve celebration.

Nick Cassavetes’ Estranged Wife Arrested Amid Nasty Custody Battle

Nick Cassavetes‘ estranged wife was arrested just before New Years weekend amid a volatile custody battle … but she took a pretty great mugshot.

Heather Wahlquist was arrested Thursday on a warrant out of Grady County, Ohio and booked into Cleveland County jail.

Records show Wahlquist’s warrant was issued after she failed to pay a speeding ticket she got in 2012. Her father paid the $349 ticket and she was released from jail the following day.

While it’s unclear what led sheriffs to book Wahlquist on a year-old warrant, the timing is certainly interesting given “The Notebook” director got a judge to sign a court order for law enforcement to do whatever is necessary to find his missing daughter.

Wahlquist thinks Cassavetes had something to do with the arrest, posting on social media afterwards, “Nick somehow had me thrown in jail for at ticket in town in 2012 that I’VE NEVER BEEN To!  2 Hours from my family home.”

The ex-couple’s 13-year-old daughter, Barbie, has since been located and returned to Cassavetes in Los Angeles.

Man arrested in South LA in connection to Kansas swatting incident that left man dead – KABC

Authorities arrested a man in South Los Angeles in connection to a swatting incident that led to a Kansas man’s death.

Tyler Barriss, 25, was arrested Friday on suspicion of making a hoax phone call to police in Wichita, Kansas.

Authorities in Wichita said someone made a prank call to 911 with a made-up story about a shooting and kidnapping. That call resulted in the death of an innocent man relatives identified as Andrew Finch, 28.

The hoax phone call was a case of swatting, authorities said, in which a person creates a false story to get a SWAT response to an address.

Authorities released the 911 recording in which a man said he’d shot his father in the head. The caller also said he was holding his mother and a sibling at gunpoint and threatened to light the house on fire.

When police headed to the home, they surrounded it and prepared to deal with a hostage situation. Finch answered the door and followed instructions to put up his hands and move slowly. But at some point, authorities said he moved toward his waistband and officers fired a single shot in fear Finch may have reached for a gun.

Authorities said Finch died at

Fight against mugshot sites yields little success

Mike Anderson was an 18-year-old freshman at Texas State University when he was busted with less than a gram of weed. Police arrested him, took his mugshot and he spent the night in jail.

The legal consequences for being caught with such a small amount of marijuana – just enough for a joint or two – were minimal, but expensive. Prosecutors offered to drop the charges if he attended a drug program and did community service, and he could later get the record of his arrest expunged for about $500, wiping the history of his arrest from public view.

“After I got it expunged, I thought it was pretty much a done deal,” he said of the order granted earlier this year.

But the next time he Googled his name, he realized the ordeal was far from over. His arrest photo was posted on Mugshots.com. The page was one of the top results for anyone who might be looking for him. And as Anderson applied for internships – a graduation requirement for mechanical engineering majors – recruiters who initially seemed interested would offer the spot to someone else.

“It wasn’t right,” said Anderson, a junior, who asked that his real name not be

Los Angeles man arrested in ‘swatting’ prank – NY Daily News

An alleged serial “prankster” from California has been arrested over a fake 911 call that resulted in police fatally shooting an unarmed Kansas man earlier this week, officials said.

Tyler Barriss — a 25-year-old gamer suspected of making the false police report that led to the death of Wichita resident Andrew Finch — was cuffed by Los Angeles cops late Friday. The catastrophic prank Barriss carried out, known as “swatting,” has gained traction in online gaming communities and typically involves a person making up a story about an ongoing violent crime to trigger a massive police response.

Finch was gunned down on Thursday night after cops believe Barriss told a 911 dispatcher that he had shot his father and was holding his mother and younger brother hostage.

“I shot him in the head and he’s not breathing anymore,” Barriss said, according to a recording of the call released by the Wichita Police Department.

The arrest was kicked off because Tamar has an order or protection against Vincent, so he’s supposed to stay away from her, right?!

In a now-deleted Instagram post, Tamar revealed that Vince is apparently HAVING A LOVE CHILD with another woman!!!

It appears that Tamar recently found out about the other woman, who she calls a “whore” in the post.

In part, Tamar had written (below):

EXCLUSIVE: RHONY star Luann, 52, WAS NOT in bed with her ex-husband before ‘drunken’ arrest – it was a boytoy …

Real Housewives of New York star Luann de Lesseps was found in bed with a boytoy half her age before her arrest for drunkenly attacking a cop, DailyMail.com has been told by their friends.

The unnamed drinking companion split before police arrived at the Colony Hotel in Palm Beach, Florida, to cuff the sloshed ‘Countess’, 52, for trespassing in the wrong room and refusing to leave.

DailyMail.com can reveal that rumors suggesting it was Tom D’Agostino, de Lesseps’ ex-husband whom she married at the same upscale hotel last December, are wide of the mark.

De Lesseps’ friend Julie Olson, who was drinking with her in the Polo bar on the night of the arrest, hints that the man was much younger than the reality star.

Olson said she had promised her close friend she wouldn’t comment further, but admitted: ‘Well, we all like to defy our age.’

Man charged with killing wife had been arrested for choking her before

The man who was arrested after his wife was found strangled at the bottom of a staircase inside their Brooklyn home was previously arrested for choking her until she was unconscious several months ago, The Post has learned.

Barry Wells, 29, was arrested Sept. 21 on felony charges of strangulation in the second degree for attacking his wife, Tonie Wells, in Manhattan on July 20.

In that case, Barry Wells allegedly dragged Tonie Wells, 22, down the stairwell of a West 42nd Street building and into a closet before placing his hands around her neck, causing her to lose consciousness, according to the criminal complaint.

His bail was set at $5,000 at his Manhattan Criminal Court arraignment and a temporary order of protection was issued against him.

The case remains open and his next court date is Feb. 6.

Barry Wells was arrested Wednesday after his wife, the mother of a 2-year-old girl, was found dead — with bruising around her neck — inside their home in Crown Heights.

He was escorted out of a borough precinct Thursday in handcuffs and placed in a waiting
