Man suspected of bringing firearms into church arrested again for school-related weapons charge

AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) –

A man suspected of bringing three guns and full magazines into the St. Mary’s Cathedral is behind bars again.

According to the Potter County jail records, Kevin Winkle was arrested for the second time in a week on Sept. 12 for exhibiting firearms on a campus or school bus.

According to the arrest report, Winkle was arrested at a home in 8100 block of Progress. He was booked into the Potter County Detention Center for exhibition, use or threat of exhibition or use of firearms that stemmed from an incident at the church on Wednesday, September 5. 

On September 5, police say Winkle showed up for a training to potentially become an usher at the church. During the training, police say he made several alarming comments and displayed a rifle that he was carrying in a violin case and three other handguns that were in his possession.

Winkle was arrested for the first time on Sunday, Sept. 9 after church officials said he brought multiple weapons and full magazines into the St.
