A gunman surrendered after staying inside a Cobb County gas station for several hours Saturday evening, Cobb County police told Channel 2 Action News.
SWAT teams were activated and surrounded the Texaco on Riverside Drive gas station, which is located off I-20 near Six Flags in Austell.
The man, identified as 26-year-old Marcus Golphin, came out with his hands up about 6 p.m., the news station reported. Police said he did not hold anyone hostage and no one was injured, though people were inside when the incident started.
Golphin was allegedly holed up inside the gas station for hours as crews tried to talk him down. Officials said he waved the gun around inside.
“He apparently was not very responsive at all to any of the officers who tried to make contact with him,” Cobb police spokesman Sgt. Wayne Delk said.
Golphin faces charges of obstruction of a police officer, false imprisonment and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, according to Cobb County jail records.
