Swiss photographer Franco Banfi was in Svalbard, in the Arctic Ocean, when he spotted the herd of walruses.

The 56-year-old said: “I was on the north coast of Svalbard as I wanted to take some pictures of walruses underwater.

“His skin seems really rough and lumpy and the bumps on his skin were quite big.

“He looked very tough with the scars as well.

“The other walruses around him were quite smooth-skinned in comparison. Some had lumps but were nowhere near as rough.
