Bank robbery suspect caught. The teller put a GPS tracking device in the money bag

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — The suspect in a bank robbery in Rhode Island Saturday morning has been arrested in Cranston, according to police.

Commander Thomas Verdi said the suspect entered the TD Bank on Westminster Street around 9:30 a.m. and passed a note to the teller demanding cash. 

The suspect took off, but a GPS tracking device in the bag allowed police to quickly track him down.

He was located about half an hour later inside the Dollar Tree at 1285 Reservoir Avenue in Cranston.

33-year-old Adam Hanrahan of West Warwick is charged with second degree robbery, according to Commander Verdi.

The incident remains under investigation.
