2 men charged with killing 2 during attempted robbery of drug proceeds in Syracuse

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Syracuse police today announced the arrest of two men in connection with a Sept. 25 shooting that left two men dead.

Syracuse Police Chief Frank Fowler said at news conference Thursday Rene DeJesus, 33, and Brian Montanez, 26, were trying to rob the victims of “drug proceeds” when they killed two men.

Fowler would not say whether the victims were actually selling drugs, or whether they had been robbed of drugs, money or both.

DeJesus, of New York City, was arrested with the help of the New York City Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Service. He was brought back to Syracuse.

DeJesus was charged with first-degree murder, criminal possession of a weapon and attempted robbery, according to arrest records posted Thursday. He was arrested in New York City, records show.

Mickey Snow was not charged in Alamance County

Updated at 4:22 p.m

WENTWORTH — A mugshot of Mickey Snow from the Alamance County Jail is connected to an existing Rockingham County prostitution case, not new allegations, officials said Thursday.

The arresting information shows the same file number as Snow’s case in Rockingham County on allegations that Snow paid an Eden woman for sexual acts with her mentally disabled teenage daughters.

“Mr. Snow was being housed in the Alamance County Jail at our request for safety and security reasons due to his case being high-profile,” said Kevin Suthard, spokesman for the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office.

Interim Rockingham County District Attorney Tom Keith said Snow was taken to Alamance County to be closer to hospitals because he was on a medical watch.

Snow, 77, of 318 Bearslide Court in Eden had been re-arrested on Sept. 25 on what were later determined to be unfounded allegations that he violated a court order. Rockingham County deputies transferred him to the neighboring county for safe keeping and the new mugshot that was taken showed up in online records.

Since 2015, Snow had been out of the  Rockingham County Jail on a $25 million bail after being charged with six counts of promoting prostitution of a minor, six counts of statutory rape and six

Boston Marathon Dad Mike Rossi Charged With Punching a Woman

Mike Rossi in a Philadelphia Police Department photo.

Every time we write a story about Mike Rossi, we think to ourselves, Well, that will probably be the last time we write about Mike Rossi. Alas …

Rossi, 50, was arrested shortly after midnight on Saturday outside the Wells Fargo Center, which had just hosted a Tim McGraw/Faith Hill concert.

According to the Philadelphia Police Department, there was a “domestic incident” in which Rossi allegedly punched a 47-year-old woman during an argument. Police say that an unknown man intervened in the fight, which could explain Rossi’s own injuries, as shown in his mugshot.

Rossi has been charged with simple assault. After posting bail, which was set at $1,500, Rossi was released.

When we reached Rossi on Sunday night for comment, he directed us to a public Facebook post he made after the arrest.

“I have officially hit rock bottom,” he wrote.

Here’s the rest of Rossi’s full, unedited post:

It’s been a hellish past 2 1/2 years and despite my positive public persona it’s taken a toll on my family and I.

Most of it I brought on myself and I take full responsibility.

To mask the

Madison County Sheriff’s Office investigator charged with child sex crimes

A longtime Madison County Sheriff’s Office investigator, Roland Campos, has been arrested for sexual abuse in the first degree, a Class C felony.

His mugshot and charges were not listed on the Madison County Jail website as of noon Saturday, even though WHNT News 19 has learned through sources that he was arrested Friday evening.

The sheriff’s office oversees the jail.

The mugshot and charges did appear on the jail website after 3pm on Saturday. It notes that Campos bonded out of the jail just after noon on Saturday. It puts his booking time at 7:47 Friday night.

A Madison County Sheriff’s Office spokesman said the department plans to make a statement Monday about the arrest.

Campos’ son, also named Roland, was sentenced to a life term in prison without parole in July 2014 following a conviction for sexual abuse of a 5-year-old.

The investigator’s brother, Russell Leland Campos, was also charged in a child sex case in 2011. But three years later, prosecutors asked that the charges be dropped, telling the court the victim was too traumatized to testify. The judge ordered the charges

4 more charged for Durham Confederate statue vandalism; 8 total arrests made

— Four more people were arrested and charged Thursday for vandalizing a Confederate statue earlier this week, bringing the total number of arrests to eight.

Three of the new arrests came during a morning rally where protesters dressed all in black gathered at the Durham courthouse in support of the people charged earlier in the case. Speakers at the rally said they had gathered to get the Durham County Sheriff’s Office to drop the charges and to advocate for the removal of all Confederate statues.

Authorities on Thursday morning charged Aaron Alexander Caldwell, 24, Raul Mauro Arce Jimenez, 26, and Elena Everett, 36.

On Thursday afternoon, Taylor Alexander Jun Cook, 24, surrendered to the Durham County Sheriff’s Office.

Everett said that she does not have any regrets about her involvement in vandalizing the statue, despite the charges against her.

“The lawmakers in North Carolina have made it impossible to take those things down legally. Communities have the right to remove symbols of racism and white supremacy from their community,” Everett said. “I hope people all across the south look at Durham as an example.”

Other protesters tried to surrender for the destruction of the statue, the sheriff’s office said, but authorities turned them

Cowboys’ Damien Wilson arrested, charged with aggravated assault on Fourth of July

The Cowboys defense is already thin as it is, and it might have take another hit depending on how the arrest of Damien Lewis plays out in the coming weeks and months.

Lewis, according to the Dallas Morning-News, was arrested Tuesday on two counts of felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon while at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas, for something called “Freedom Fest,” described as a family event on the Fourth of July.

Fox 4 in Dallas obtained a copy of Wilson’s mugshot.

Wilson saw a lot of first-team reps during the team’s minicamp, according to Jon Machota of the Morning-News, which does not bode well for the Cowboys, although Sean Lee and Jaylon Smith did miss plenty of time during those practices.

Wilson, who was taken with a fourth-round pick in the 2015 draft, started six games last season and recorded 34 tackles.

“We are aware of the situation and we are in the process of gathering information,” the Cowboys said in a statement. “We will not have a comment at this time.”

Wilson is the second Cowboys player, along with Nolan Carroll — arrested on a DUI
