Elderly couple who said they’d give weed as Christmas gifts arrested again

The elderly California couple who in December told authorities they were giving out marijuana as Christmas presents, was arrested again Tuesday on the same stretch of Nebraska highway.

Lancaster County (Neb.) Sheriff Terry Wagner said the couple was found in a car with $18,000 cash and a duffel bag with marijuana residue on it. The money was bundled and attached to “owe notes,” which spelled out marijuana transactions.

The black Toyota Tacoma truck was stopped by an officer at 9:42 a.m. on Interstate 80 westbound in Lancaster County, in the area of Lincoln, Nebraska. The couple’s daughter, 45-year-old Mariah Jiron, of Vermont, was driving. A K-9 officer detected the odor of narcotics on the car and the search found about $17,000 in one duffel bag, which contained the marijuana residue. Wagner said no drugs were found in the vehicle.

Daughter of Manhattan ballet couple arrested for burglary – Daily Mail

The daughter of a Manhattan ballet power couple has been arrested for theft after she was caught on surveillance camera, wearing all black, with an accomplice near the site of one of a string of burglaries in an affluent Maine town.

Talicia Martins, 21, and conspirator Jacob Flanagan, 20, are accused of breaking into three local businesses in Camden, Maine, between July 30 and 31, stealing more than $1,000.

Martins is the daughter of former New York City Ballet principal dancer Darci Kistler and the company’s current ballet Master-in-Chief Peter Martins.

She was arrested Thursday and charged with burglary and felony theft after authorities reviewed surveillance footage from the street near one of the burglaries, which revealed Martins and Flanagan – both dressed in dark clothes – walking nearby.

The two were caught on surveillance camera on the second night of the burglaries, on July 31

Couple Arrested in Sacramento Area After Toddler Found Dead Under Blankets in SUV

Two people were arrested in connection with a 3-year-old girl found dead inside a vehicle parked on the side of a Northern California road on Wednesday, officials said.

Angela Phakhin, 27, and Untwan Smith, 46, were taken into custody on suspicion of child endangerment and conspiracy around 12:30 p.m. after a police officer found them in their Toyota RAV4 along Rod Beaudry Drive in Rancho Cordova, according to a statement from the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department.

The officer approached the car after noticing it was parked facing the wrong direction, deputies said.

Although Phakhin and Smith were its registered owners, the officer uncovered an outstanding warrant for Smith’s arrest in Arkansas.

While searching the vehicle, police discovered the toddler unresponsive under some blankets in the beat seat, according to sheriff’s officials.

The girl did not show obvious signs of trauma but was pronounced dead at the scene.

“They put the child in a risky situation that most likely caused her death,” Sheriff’s Sgt. Tony Turnbull said. “That’s why they were arrested for the child endangerment at this point.”

The exact cause of the 3-year-old’s death has not been determined, pending an autopsy report from the county coroner’s office.

Phakhin was her biological mother, while Smith is Phakhin’s boyfriend, investigators

Man Stabbed While Breaking Up Fight Between Couple; Suspect Arrested

ST. JOHN — A man was stabbed in his abdomen on Wednesday afternoon on this island after attempting to stop a fight between a man and a woman, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte told this publication early Monday.

According to Mr. Dratte, who was reached by The Consortium to get clarity as to what really occurred, the victim — who arrived at the Roy Lester Schneider Hospital at 3:07 p.m. for treatment — told police that he was exiting a place of business in Cruz Bay when he observed a couple having a scuffle.

Mr. Dratte, clarifying a press release issued on Sunday, said the victim then saw the suspect throw a punch at the female, and decided to step in and stop the fight. But the suspect, identified by police as Akil Gumbs, age 35, pulled out a knife from the back of his waist and stabbed the suspect in his abdomen. The victim was taken into surgery, according to Mr. Dratte.

Mr. Gumbs was arrested for third-degree assault. Unable to make bail (amount was not released), he was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advise-of-rights hearing.
