49ers’ Reuben Foster arrested for marijuana possession in Alabama

San Francisco 49ers linebacker Reuben Foster was arrested in Tuscaloosa on Friday and charged with second degree possession of marijuana, according to the Tuscaloosa Sheriff’s Office arrest database, via AL.com. It is considered a Class A misdemeanor in Alabama.

Bond was set at $2,500 for Foster. This is all new, so there’s little information other than that.

Needless to say, this is a wretched way to start the offseason. Foster was a first-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, and other than some injury concerns, he had a phenomenal season. He was the NFL defensive rookie of the month for December.

Foster had a bad NFL Combine before the draft, made worse by a diluted urine sample which is treated like a positive test per NFL policy. Foster will be in the league’s drug program going forward, though how the NFL treats that combine test has to be clarified before we know which stage exactly.

“The San Francisco 49ers organization is aware of the matter involving Reuben Foster and we are currently gathering all relevant facts,” the team said on Friday evening. You can see his mugshot here.

A man facing charges he raped one of his foster children is back in jail

A Bradenton man has been arrested again in connection to allegations that he raped one of the girls in his care during his more than 12 years as a foster father.

Albert Ferrell, 65, was arrested again on Thursday after the State Attorney’s Office filed an amended charge of sexual battery on a victim between the ages of 12 and 18 by someone in custodial authority. He is being held at the Manatee County jail on a $250,000 bond.

Ferrell appeared to have altered his appearance since he was released from jail a week earlier with his new jail booking photo showing him with light brown hair, not black, as shown in his mugshot from his initial arrest on Nov. 30.

He had been released on Dec. 14 after posting bonds totaling $101,500.
