Mugshot of Nikolas Cruz Released as Details on Florida School Shooting Suspect Emerge

The mugshot of suspected Florida school shooter Nikolas Cruz has been released as dark details of the teen’s life continue to emerge.

The 19-year-old reportedly posted threats to “shoot people with my AR-15” to social media prior to the attack, which left at least 17 dead at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland Wednesday.

At least one student recognized Cruz from an Instagram photo in which he posed with a gun in front of his face, according to CBS News. Another online comment reportedly read, “I wanna die Fighting killing s**t ton of people.”

The teen had been expelled from the high school for disciplinary reasons in the last school year, according to reports. He also associated with a white supremacist group, according to social media posts.

In November, his adoptive mother, Lynda Cruz, died of complications from pneumonia. Cruz had reportedly since been living with a friend’s family in Broward County.

Along with his mugshot, police released a list of charges against Cruz following his arrest: 17 counts of premeditated murder.

Cruz was booked after police escorted him from a hospital where he’d been treated for labored breathing he had apparently suffered during his arrest.

At a Thursday press conference, the officer who arrested Cruz described the moment he

Arrest details, mugshot released of Parkland shooting suspect

The Broward County Jail has released the arrest information for suspected Parkland gunman Nikolas Cruz.

Cruz was arrested Wednesday after allegedly shooting several students at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, killing 17.

The 19-year-old has been charged with 17 counts of premeditated murder.

Police said Cruz was armed with multiple magazines and at least one AR-15 style rifle.

The AR-15 was traced and two law enforcement officials told ABC News the firearm was legally purchased by Cruz within the past year from a federally licensed dealer.

The legal age to purchase a firearm from a federally licensed dealer is 18.

Investigators believe the suspect pulled the school’s fire alarm to draw people out and get a higher death toll, according to a law enforcement source.

Cruz was a student of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School before being expelled for disciplinary reasons.

He is being held without bond.

“They took this kid in. They had no predilection that anything like this was going to happen,” said attorney James Lewis. “He was a very mild mannered kid. He’s going through some tough times with losing his mom, but he obeyed all the house rules. He lived there without any concerns or issues for almost three months and they are shocked and horrified by the allegations

Symbolism of missing mugshot

We at the newspaper appreciate all of the sacrifices our law enforcement and public safety officers make in the Tri-State. Policing is a very, very dangerous job. Every day, hundreds of law enforcement officers take to the streets in our region, willing to put their lives on the line to protect us.

For this we say thank you. In fact, we can never say thank you enough.

We also recognize that officers are just like everyone else. They are human. Occasionally a mistake is made or a misstep takes place.

With this in mind it is accepted in our society that, given the power law enforcement is allocated to arrest and detain individuals, they are held to a higher standard. And, when an officer does make a mistake, they need to be treated just like everyone else. These standards make the system equitable and fair for all. This fairness is at the very heart of the American justice system.

All of this leads us to the recent arrest of a Greenup County deputy here in Ashland on a public intoxication charge. The now former deputy pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor. Was it the crime of the century? Of course not. It was a very

Like us, celebrities make mistakes, too! These nine celebs have all gotten arrested before the age of 25! Hopefully by now, you know about Justin Bieber‘s arrest in 2014. The singer was pulled over while racing through a Miami neighborhood with a blood alcohol level that was well above the legal limit. Beiber even failed his sobriety test, which landed him in jail. The singer didn’t seem too phased about his arrest though, as his mug shot shows him with a huge smile on his face! The Biebs didn’t particularly enjoy his 24 hours in jail, however. In fact, there were reports of a video of him urinating and stumbling in a jail cell because he had to pee so bad! Maybe don’t drink and drive next time, Justin!

Did you know Vampire Diaries star Nina Dobrev was once arrested, too!? Her and five co-stars were arrested for disorderly conduct in 2009 after they were caught flashing cars on an overpass! Kind of strange, huh? Co-stars Tyler

Former deputy’s mugshot is missing

No answers are being provided as to why the Boyd County Detention Center apparently failed to take a mugshot of a former Greenup deputy following his arrest a little more than a week ago.

Randy Riggs was arrested by Ashland Police Saturday, Jan. 20 on an allegation of public intoxication. According to the uniform citation, Riggs was booked at the Boyd County Detention Center.

An open records request for all booking-related documents and photo identification from the jail was made by phone Monday with no reply. A formal records request was hand-delivered Tuesday.

On Wednesday, the jail provided an envelope containing Riggs’ booking sheet, a copy of the uniform citation and other records. However, a photo of Riggs was not provided. Instead, on the booking sheet where the mugshot is typically located, all that was visual was a blank wall.

Joe Burchett did not return phone calls seeking an explanation for the missing mugshot or whether Riggs was given special treatment by the jail.

Riggs has since resigned.

‘But who did her hair?’: Charlotte hairstylist’s mugshot makes business boom

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Forget turning lemons into lemonade, a Queen City hairstylist is turning her mugshot into some serious business.

Shia Milan Yearwood, 24, said she was in the middle of braiding her hair when she received a shocking phone call.

“At the start of the year I decided to do the ‘No Heat Challenge’ where you use protective styles and don’t use any heat on your hair… so braids are used to protect your natural hair,” Yearwood said. “I started off putting my hair in braids and got a phone call from the sheriff saying I had a warrant out for my arrest.”

The warrant was issued for Yearwood due to her violating a protective/restraining order. The 24-year-old said she was trying to see her son when she violated her protective order.

So when Yearwood found out she had a warrant issued for her, she decided to take control of the situation.

“Growing up in Charlotte, I know Charlotte has this mugshot page and if you get arrested your mugshot will be posted on social media,”
